September 23, 2019 (Monday) -The long wait is over for the Lamitenos as the Local Government of Lamitan headed by the City Mayor Rose Furigay officially opened the Lamitan City Forever Tulip Graded this morning as they kick off the City Tourism Week Celebration.

The Lamitan Tulip Garden is BARMM’s first-ever manmade garden made from recycled water bottles

The Forever Tulip Garden is made up of more than 30, 000 Tulips patiently and creatively made from recycled water bottles collected from the 45 different Barangays of the City.

Since plastic bottles take a very long time decomposing, the City General Services Office headed by Engr. Kaye Hibionada and her hard-working and dedicated staff thought of putting these collected bottles in good use.

The Local Government of Lamitan strongly discourages the usage of single-use plastics and water bottles as it greatly contributes to the environmental pollution and alleviating garbage problems faced by the country.

As Lamitan intensifies its “Abante Lamitan, Atras Basura” (ALAB) Campaign, Mayor Rose unceasingly seeks the cooperation of each of her constituents to finally veer away from using single-use plastics. “Let this be a reminder for all to be actively involved in the campaign against single-use plastic. Let us all be part of this campaign and say no to plastic now,” said she.

For the past weeks, curiosity aroused as photos circulated on Facebook showing a Tulip Garden situated in Lamitan City and people started to buzz around inquiring about the said photo.

On Sunday, the Local Government of Lamitan through its Official Facebook Account “Abante Lamitan” and Official Facebook Page “City Government of Lamitan” announced the official opening of the garden. This announcement gained appreciation from netizens and was even published and promoted by GMA News, CNN, and many more.
