The 5-megawatt Lamitan city power plant is now 80% complete, according to a Lamitan official.
Lamitan Mayor Rose U. Furigay expressed elation on the status of the power plant saying that it will solve the blackouts Lamitan city has been experiencing.
Lamitan has been experiencing a power outage of up to 5 hours a day.
Furigay said that documents pertinent to the operation of the power plant are now with the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC.)
The city has also entered into a Memorandum of Agreement on power supply with the Basilan Electric Cooperative to be able to use the latter’s electric posts to provide power to consumers.
Transformers are also required to complete the distribution of electricity.
“We are optimistic that it will be completed this year and approved by the ERC, said Furigay.
The lady chief executive also said that the city will be able to earn from the power plant’s operation.
Power plant personnel such as electrical and mechanical engineers and others will also be hired. (Allen Abastillas)
